TEHRAN -- In a phone conversation on Saturday, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad congratulated Jalal Talabani on his reelection as Iraqi president.

The Iraqi Parliament on Thursday reelected Talibani, a Kurd, as president.
Ahmadinejad described the formation of a new government in Iraq as a “great victory”.
“Iran has always supported unity and security of Iraq and will stand by the Iraqi nation forever,” the Iranian president noted.
Ahmadinejad also expressed hope that all parties and factions in Iraq would help improve situation in Iraq through their unity.
Talabani, for his part, thanked Iran for its help in establishing security in Iraq, saying the new deal for formation of government was the result of Iraqis’ national resolve
